Faces of Waterloo Station

IMG 3455 - Faces of Waterloo Station

Waterloo Station is noted for its splendid archway which commemorates the various wars Britain has fought.
Lesser known are the faces that accompany the arches and parapets within the station. Here’s a quick look.

Many of the windows along the eastern station approach road have this one face

A face at the top of the Victory Arch. This was designed by James Rob Scott
Those faces inside the station appear to be the more interesting. Even better a couple look extremely life-like!
These sculptures were commissioned by the London and South Western Railway and made their appearance during the station’s rebuilding in the 1920s.

  • One of the heads came from Kirkintilloch. The cast is in the Kirkintilloch town hall.
